    PDF take off

I currently use "Take Off Live" to do measurements on PDF files. This is an adequate program for getting the square foot of an area or getting lengths for feeders and home runs but does not have a very good counting option. Are there better software programs for doing take off on PDF formats?

I have Bluebeam PDFRevu as my PDF creator program instead of Adobe.  It is compatible with all Adobe files and can be used to measure.  But, if you are really serious about doing takeoffs from PDF files you should use On Screen Takeoff (OST) from On Center.  www.oncenter.com  It reads TIFF and PDF and many other files.  It will convert PDF files to TIFF one plan at a time or the entire list of plans pulled into a project.  This is for speed.  The TIF files are much quicker when moving from one plan to another.  To use a PDF program for takeoff is like using Paint for a CAD program.

Take a look at "Quick Measure On-Screen" for taking off PDF files, especially if you are an Excel user.  click here.  http://www.soltechs.com/QM%20On%20Screen%20Page.htm
